VAT rate in Hungary
The standard VAT rate in Hungary is 27%. This page explains when it applies to your sales and where the figure comes from.
When this rate applies to your sales
VAT is due in the customer's own country, at that country's rate, once the EU €10,000 cross-border threshold no longer applies to you, or earlier if you choose to apply the destination rules. For a consumer in this country, that rate is 27%.
Business customers
If the customer is a business with a valid EU VAT number, you usually do not charge VAT on cross-border sales. Read the guide on B2B sales for the details.
Reduced rates
Some countries apply reduced rates to specific items, such as e-books, newspapers and periodicals. The Duty27 API returns the rate for a given category.
Calculate it with Duty27
Duty27's API returns the rate in force on the date of the sale, with its source and effective date. No credit card is needed to get an API key.
Where this rate comes from
The rate comes from Duty27's rate data, which is sourced from the European Commission's Taxes in Europe Database (TEDB). Rates can change, so confirm a figure with your tax authority before relying on it for a filing.
